ENTERPRISE COACHING AND DEVELOPMENT (ECD) Tanzania a non sectarian aid local nongovernmental organization dedicated to work in Tanzania mainland targeted to help people of need most. Its purpose is to help the developing poor in their efforts to achieve long term social and economic well being. The current programming sector is Renewable energy, Agriculture, small economic activities, Empowerment, on entrepreneurship skill, environmental management. Agriculture, Livestock, Fish farming, primary health Education. ECD is dedicated to the goal of improving the capacity Community, youth on Microfinance Agriculture and Livestock education and behavioral change strengthen communities to manage their natural cash and human resources in sustainable manner. The organization works primarily at the community level the scope of its work is more at marginalized semi-urban and rural poor in Promoting vocational training, workforce development, Agriculture and Livestock Development, vocational training systems and practical, demand-driven short training courses, introducing innovative educational programs, Promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)  as well Promoting cross cutting issues like gender, HIV/AIDS, and nutrition ECD implementing its  activities  in, Mwanza, Shinyanga ,Kagera  Geita, Simiyu, Dodoma ,Morogoro, Mara, Tabora, Tanga, Arusha and  Kilimanjaro.

To maximize its efficiency and effectiveness ECD Tanzania invites qualified people to apply fill  different vacancy in the organization as explained below.


Position: Agricultural officer (2 positions)

The Agricultural Officer will support the achievement of the program’s agricultural production and marketing objectives principally through leading the program’s capacity building strategy with program partners and beneficiaries. In addition, the Agricultural Officer will oversee efforts that lead to increased and improved linkages between small farmers, farmer organizations, relevant government ministries and the private sector.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Carrying out practical demonstrations relating to crop and poultry production
  • Advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment
  • Plan and execute the best strategies in formulation of agribusiness products that will attract customers in the market especially poultry and pulses crops
  • Undertake marketing of produce to ensure maximized returns and keep good relations with farmer clients
  • Take lead in setting up and management of the credit management model through the farmer groups/Self Help Groups
  • Dissemination of new technologies through community mobilization, sensitization and capacity building
  • Participating in and organizing exhibitions, trade fairs, shows and field days for farmers
  • Collecting and collating livestock/crop data and information for gross margins, market access and planning

Qualifications

  • Diploma/bachelor degree in a relevant field such as General Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal/Crop Production
  • 8-10 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Previous experience in rural set up of Tanzania 
  • Experience and knowledge in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) market and value chain development, agricultural service provision and farm enterprise development
  • Knowledge and previous practice of MS Office (Word and Excel are essential)
  • Results driven and motivated by a sense of performance excellence and urgency
  • Strong communication skills in English & Kiswahili, both verbally and written
  • Personal qualities of integrity, customer orientation and cooperation
